La Digue Seychelles

La Digue Island Holidays

The fourth largest island in the archipelago, La Digue Island in the Seychelles is reached from Praslin Island by a 30 minute ferry ride or by helicopter. The island is approx. 5km by 3 km and is 6 kms from Praslin.

La Digue island's main form of transport is either ox-cart or a handful of motor vehicles. For the visitor it is either foot power or pedal power, bicycles can be hired on a daily basis.

The island has changed little over the years and still offers a glimpse of what life used to be like in the Seychelles. The Digueois are very friendly and the pace of life relatively slow, but who needs to rush! Visitors staying at one of the idyllic La Digue hotels, will sense the tranquility and peace of the island.

The masses of granite rocks around the coastline especially at Anse Source D’Argent contrasting with the white sand beaches with a background of green vegetation has made La Digue island the most photographed in the Seychelles. Here you will often see models being photographed and film crew setting up. It has been the ideal location for filming such adverts as Bacardi and Bounty Bars.

The island is also well known for the Veuve Nature Reserve where you may well find the rare Paradise flycatcher.
